Yes I do, I believe
That one day I will be, where I was
Right there, right next to you
You terribly missed him, your Ludwig. You were wedded to him for five years, and he was gone for three. The German was selected to serve for the military and was deployed shortly after. How you managed to survive without him? You didn't know. You just knew that you had to be with him, again.
And it's hard, the days just seem so dark
The moon, the stars, are nothing without you
Your touch, your skin, where do I begin?
So many nights where you'd cry for your husband. It hurt, knowing he wasn't at all near you. You couldn't help it. You missed him, everything about him. From his strict and protective mannerism to his caring personality and loving caresses. From his well-hidden battle scars to those shining, blue eyes that you couldn't help but stare into.
No words can explain, the way I’m missing you
The night, this emptiness, this hole that I’m inside
These tears, they tell their own story
03:45 A.M. Your clock read. Rolling over onto your stomach groaning, "How am I supposed to sleep now.." You turned your head to the right side of the bed. *Empty.. *Just like every other day since he left. If Ludwig wasn't there, it would always be empty. Fresh tears made their way into your eyes as your thoughts wandered back to your husband.
You told me not to cry when you were gone
But the feeling’s overwhelming, it's much too strong
Can I lay by your side, next to you, you
And make sure you’re alright
I’ll take care of you
And I don’t want to be here if I can’t be with you tonight
You remembered everything on that day. The day he left.
~ Flashback ~
Clad in the given army uniform, he lifted the military duffle onto his back with ease. The bus was awaiting him. Tears in your eyes, you grasped onto his bare and warm hand.
"L-Ludwig, please.." You desperately looked at him through wet eyes, "Don't.." Seeing you cry made him want to cry, but he knew he had to be strong. He always had to be strong.
Ludwig gave you a small smile and lifted both of his hands to your face, gently wiping the tears away, "Don't cry, Liebe. I promise, I'll come back to you. Ich liebe dich." He said before placing a long kiss on your forehead.
You closed your eyes and told him you loved him too while trying to impress the feeling of his lips into your mind. The warmth was gone and you followed him to the door. You didn't get very far because Ludwig had stopped you from following him outside.
"(F/n), please. Don't make this even harder for me. Stay inside." The blonde begged, his lips slightly quivering. Ludwig knew he couldn't take it if he saw you while leaving.
I’m reaching out to you
Can you hear my call?
This hurt that I’ve been through
I’m missing you, missing you like crazy
Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months. And months turned into years. *How long, Ludwig? How long will I suffer like this?* You just wanted his presence. Him, you wanted him so bad. You wanted him to hold you, to tell you that he'll never leave you again. The feeling of his arms around you, you craved it. The hurt and loneliness that your heart carried was too much. The only treatment being your husband.
Can I lay by your side, next to you, you
And make sure you’re alright
I’ll take care of you
And I don’t wanna be here if I can’t be with you tonight
You didn't want to give up, though. The chance of seeing Ludwig unexpectedly come home motivated you every morning. For three years straight (and probably even more) ―that was your motivation. He was your motivation. The moment he'd come home, to you, was the moment you were practically living (and dying) for.
The thought of Ludwig by your side again made your heart throb and encouraged you to see another day. You'd wait for even more if it meant Ludwig would be with you, again. If anything, he was worth every second of those years.
Lay me down tonight, lay me by your side
Lay me down tonight, lay me by your side
Can I lay by your side, next to you, you

"I could ask you the same fucking question, _____!" He cut you off, lips curled back into a feral snarl.
Stunned, you took a slight step backwards. You couldn't recall him ever being this livid at you in the past. Something had him pretty damn pissed.
Tilting your head and holding out open palms, you inquired "Kirschtein, can you calm down, please? Why are you acting like thi-"

Why am I even bothering with this right now, anyway? Jean thought to himself with a long, drawn-out sigh.
He trudged along at a leisurely pace through the training grounds, kicking absently at pebbles and scuffing his boots against the dusty ground beneath him. A mild, gentle breeze ruffled his copper-blonde hair, heralding a fairly warm day. The sun was now fully above the horizon, bathing the military compound in a welcoming glow.
But there wouldn't be much of a welcome where Jean was headed, surely.
"After that performance with Reiner, she'll probably tear

As your eyes adjusted to the change in lighting entering the mess hall, your ears were greeted with the familiar murmur of noise generated by hungry trainees. Wearily, you followed Jean over to the cafeteria area to load up your tray, but despite your hunger you no longer felt like eating.
In stark contrast to the peace and relief you had felt in the shade of the willow tree, the weight of reality had returned to burden your shoulders and press upon your heart. Running your disinterested gaze over the food options, you resigned yourself to a bowl of gruel-like o
